Description
Old Scituate Light is a historic New England lighthouse located on Cedar Point in Massachusetts. This 204 year old structure was photographed from the end of its adjacent jetty at sunset.
There is a famous story behind this beautiful beacon dating back to the War of 1812. The two daughters of the lighthouse keeper, Abigail and Rebecca, saved Scituate from British invasion by playing a fife and a drum loudly enough to make the approaching enemies believe they were an entire regiment. This inspirational duo was then dubbed "The American Army of Two".
First place winning image in the contest "Images with Rocks" 11/24/18.
